Name and title: Juan Chen Associate Professor

Overview: Dr Juan Chen specialises in the research related to a broad range of high-efficiency and low-emission clean energy technologies, particularly for the pollutants control during advanced utilization of low-rank coal and solid waste. She has made a number of innovative achievements in the formation and control of heavy metals and particulates. She has also been conducting interdisciplinary research including extraction of valuable elements such as lithium/gallium/cobalt from fly ash and electronic waste. Her research has been supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China(General Program and Youth Science Program), Key Technologies R&D Program of Shandong Province, and Talent Introduction Program of Shandong University. Dr Juan Chen was selected into the Future Plan for Young Scholars of Shandong University.

Research Interests:

    • Combustion and control of emission, such as SO2, CO2, PM2.5 and trace metals;

    • trace metals chemistry; Mechanism of fine particles formation;

    • Utilization of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Sludge

    • Production of valuable lithium/gallium/cobalt products from solid waste.
